SIFU/KHRU DANIEL GILKES

Head Instructor at Fighting Measure Martial Arts (FMMA) started his journey with Shotokan Karate around 1992, and earned his purple belt before moving on. He then Joined Unified Martial Art Academy in 1995 under the instruction of Sifu Wayne Quintyne where he was introduced to the philosophy of Jeet Kune Do (JKD) and the various martial systems (Kali, Jun Fan Gung Fu, Muay Thai, Savate, Dunmog, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Silat, etc.) used in the development of a JKD practitioner.

Training alongside senior students accelerated his development in the arts dramatically and he went on to be awarded the Student of the Year in 96, 97, 98 for Filipino Kali, Student of the Year in 98, 99 for Grappling, Male Student of the Year in 97 for growth and development in the art and philosophy of Jeet Kune Do.

He has taken all opportunities available to him to broaden his martial arts knowledge locally and internationally and has trained and met many some of the top ranked instructors such as Guro Daniel Inosanto, Grand Master Ajarn Chai Sirisute, Ajarn Phil Nurse, Luke Holloway, Datu Tim Harman and Sigung Dwight Woods.

He is currently ranked 2nd Rank (JKD) and 2nd Year Associate Instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu & Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino Martial Arts with UMAA Barbados under Sifu Wayne Quintyne. This makes him one of only three persons from the Caribbean to be certified at this level.

Jason Clarke

JASON CLARKE

Jason Clarke is a passionate martial artist and the current instructor for the Beginner’s Muay Thai class at Fighting Measure Martial Arts (FMMA). With over a decade of experience, Jason brings a deep respect for the discipline and a steady commitment to growth — both as a student and a teacher.

He began training in Muay Thai in 2013 and has worked his way up to Advanced Level 2 at FMMA. Under the mentorship of Khru Daniel, he is also a 1st Year Associate Instructor, actively developing his instructional skills while continuing to sharpen his own technique.

Jason’s dedication extends beyond the walls of the studio. He proudly represented Barbados as a member of the Muay Thai National Team as recently as 2024 — a testament to his skill, resilience, and work ethic. In 2019, he stepped into the ring for his amateur debut at Battle of the Paradise IX, where he held his own in a closely contested match that ended in a draw.

His approach to teaching is grounded in strong fundamentals, discipline, and respect. Known for his calm presence and steady leadership, Jason fosters an inclusive and motivating environment where beginners feel supported as they build confidence and skill in the art of Muay Thai.

Whether on the mats or in the ring, Jason remains a student first — always learning, always growing, and always eager to help others do the same.

 
Stacia Wilkinson

STACIA WILKINSON

Stacia is a first generation Instructor at Fighting Measure Martial Arts (FMMA), where she teaches the Box & Blaze Program and Assists with the self-protection Program’s. She enjoys giving students the tools to empowering themselves through her instruction. She started at FMMA in the Box & Blaze Program five years ago as a way to stay active, in a short space of time she expanded her training base into the Muay Thai Program and through consistent training, exposure, and testing, she is now currently ranked as an Intermediate Level 3 in Muay Thai (Student) as well as a 3rd Year Apprentice Instructor Under Khru Daniel of Fighting Measure MartIal Arts.

This journey has given her clarity, confidence, and a sense of community. It’s taught her how to stay grounded under pressure, trust her instincts, and push beyond limits she didn’t even know she had.

Now she teaches to share that same transformation. Martial arts training is more than a sport—it’s a path to discipline, self-trust, and personal power. And for her, there’s no greater reward than watching someone discover their strength and realize: they can do this!.

 
Shakeria White

SHAKERIA WHITE

Shakeria joined Fighting Measure Martial Arts (FMMA) in 2022 and currently holds an Intermediate Level 2 ranking. She is also a 1st Year Apprentice Instructor under Khru Daniel. Passionate about the art form, Shakeria embraces Muay Thai not only as a means of staying physically fit but also as a source of mental clarity and balance.

A former dancer, Shakeria has performed across Barbados and the Caribbean and has taught traditional West African and Caribbean dance styles at various schools and community groups. In 2019, she entered the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) with her original choreography Core, part of the Dancing Africa presentation. The piece won gold and several other accolades, including the prestigious Richild Springer Scholarship, which enabled her to study dance in New York City in 2022.

Shakeria now assists with FMMA’s Muay Thai Jr. Dragons classes on Saturday mornings. She is committed to creating a fun, educational, and impactful environment where young students can grow in confidence and skill through martial arts.
